Abbé Pierre, France's beloved priest and social activist, faces posthumous sexual assault allegations.
Seven women, including a minor, have accused him of misconduct between 1970 and 2005. The accusations, revealed 17 years after his death, were investigated by Emmaüs France, Emmaüs International, and the Abbé Pierre Foundation.
The allegations include inappropriate touching, forced kisses, and sexual harassment.
This revelation has shocked many, given Abbé Pierre's reputation as a champion for the poor and homeless.
The French Bishops' Conference expressed 'pain' and 'shame' over the allegations, while praising the 'necessary truth-seeking work' by Emmaüs.
