Former French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has been indicted and placed under judicial supervision in connection with the Libyan campaign funding case involving her husband, former President Nicolas Sarkozy.
On July 9, 2024, Bruni-Sarkozy was charged with concealment of witness tampering and criminal conspiracy.
The case revolves around the 2020 retraction of accusations by Ziad Takieddine, who had previously claimed Nicolas Sarkozy received Libyan funds for his 2007 presidential campaign.
Bruni-Sarkozy is suspected of acting as an intermediary between her husband and Michèle 'Mimi' Marchand, a media figure allegedly involved in orchestrating Takieddine's retraction.
The former model is now prohibited from contacting other individuals involved in the case, except for her husband.
