Corruption Charges Loom Over Dati and Ghosn

The French National Financial Prosecutor's Office has called for a trial against Culture Minister Rachida Dati and former Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn on charges of corruption and influence peddling.

Dati is accused of receiving €900,000 from Renault-Nissan's subsidiary, RNBV, between 2010 and 2012, allegedly for lobbying activities while serving as a Member of the European Parliament, which is prohibited.

Ghosn, who is currently in Lebanon, faces charges of abuse of power and corruption.

Both deny the allegations, with Dati's lawyers asserting her innocence and Ghosn's legal team challenging the legitimacy of the arrest warrant.

The decision now rests with the investigating judges to determine if the case will proceed to trial.
