In a surprising turn of events, three out of four 'purged' candidates from La France Insoumise (LFI) have won re-election in France's legislative elections.
Alexis Corbière, Danielle Simonnet, and Hendrik Davi, who were denied official party backing, secured victories in their respective constituencies.
Corbière won comfortably in Seine-Saint-Denis with 57.1% of the vote, while Simonnet claimed a landslide victory in Paris.
Davi emerged victorious in Marseille against a far-right opponent.
These wins are seen as a rebuke to LFI's leadership, particularly Jean-Luc Mélenchon, with the victorious candidates calling for a more democratic approach within the left-wing alliance.
The results may lead to a reshuffling of political alignments within the French left.
