Published: 2024-09-20

The 41st edition of the European Heritage Days, held on September 21 and 22, offers a unique opportunity for millions of French citizens to explore over 16,000 cultural sites across France.

This year's theme focuses on routes, networks, connections, and maritime heritage.

Notable sites include the newly accessible ramparts of Carcassonne, the medieval Grand Cygne cellar in Bonneval, and the historic drying tower of Caserne Chanzy in Reims.

Visitors can also explore the Pavillon de l’Impératrice Eugénie in Compiègne and the Château de Robien in Foeil.

Additionally, the event highlights maritime heritage with sites like the Château d’If in Marseille and the Alfred-Merlin archaeological ship in Toulon.

These events provide a rare glimpse into France's rich history and cultural diversity, with many locations opening to the public for the first time.
