France and Algeria are working to mend their strained relationship after months of tension.
Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Abdelmadjid Tebboune held a phone call to restart cooperation on security and migration.
This follows a period of diplomatic disputes, including Algeria's reaction to France's stance on Western Sahara and the imprisonment of writer Boualem Sansal.
Macron urged Tebboune to show clemency towards Sansal, who was sentenced to five years in prison.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of mutual respect and collaboration, agreeing to meet soon to solidify their renewed partnership.
