France Braces for Severe Snowstorm

Published: 2024-11-20

A significant snowstorm, driven by the depression Caetano, is set to sweep across France from west to east, starting Thursday morning.

Météo France has issued an orange alert for 28 departments, warning of heavy snowfall and icy conditions that could disrupt travel.

The affected areas stretch from Brittany and Normandy to the Grand Est, including Île-de-France.

Snow accumulations could reach up to 10 cm in some regions, with higher elevations in Franche-Comté expecting up to 20 cm.

Additionally, strong winds exceeding 100 km/h are anticipated along the Atlantic coast, prompting further weather warnings.

Residents are advised to limit travel, ensure vehicles are winter-ready, and stay updated with local advisories.
