Two French lawmakers, Antoine Léaument and Ludovic Mendes, have proposed a groundbreaking approach to combat drug trafficking in France.
Their report, presented to the National Assembly, advocates for the legalization of cannabis and the decriminalization of other drugs.
The aim is to weaken the financial power of traffickers while focusing on public health and addiction treatment.
The proposal includes strict regulations, such as limiting THC levels and licensing for cultivation and sales.
While the plan has sparked debate, with some government officials opposing it, the authors argue it could reduce black market activity and better protect consumers.
The report will be made public on February 18.
