In a thrilling start to their Olympic campaign, the French men's volleyball team triumphed over Serbia in a five-set match (3-2) at the Arena Paris Sud 1. The match, played in front of a passionate crowd of 12,500 fans, saw the French team, led by captain Benjamin Toniutti, recover from a shaky start to secure the victory.
Star player Earvin Ngapeth, returning from injury, played a crucial role despite struggling initially, finishing with ten points.
The win was vital as the new Olympic format allows only three pool matches to qualify for the quarter-finals.
The French team now looks ahead to their next matches against Canada and Slovenia, aiming to build on this momentum as they defend their Olympic title.
