French Job Market Shows Slight Improvement

The French job market showed slight improvement in the second quarter of 2024, with the number of unemployed individuals in category A (without activity) decreasing by 0.4%, bringing the total to 3.01 million.

When including those in reduced activity (categories B and C), the total number of job seekers stands at 5.39 million, reflecting a 0.2% decline over the quarter.

Notably, the unemployment rate for women improved by 0.7%, while men's unemployment saw a smaller decrease of 0.1%.

Young job seekers under 25 experienced a 1% drop in unemployment, contrasting with a 0.2% decrease for those aged 25-49. Despite these positive trends, long-term unemployment remains a concern, with a 0.6% decrease in those registered for over a year.

Overall, the labor market remains stable amid ongoing economic challenges.
