Hugo Prevost, a French MP from Isère, has resigned following serious sexual misconduct allegations.

The accusations, which predate his election, led to his exclusion from the La France Insoumise (LFI) parliamentary group.

Prevost, who was elected in July 2024, announced his resignation, acknowledging the gravity of the allegations but choosing not to address them publicly.

His decision follows calls for his resignation from various political groups, including the Ecologists and the Socialist Party in Isère.

The allegations were brought to light by the LFI's Committee of Vigilance against Sexist and Sexual Violence.

Prevost's resignation will trigger a new legislative election in his constituency.
