The French women's sabre team faced disappointment at the Paris 2024 Olympics, losing to Japan 45-40 in the bronze medal match.
After a strong start, defeating Algeria 45-32, the team struggled in the semifinals against South Korea, where they only won one out of nine relays.
Despite the setback, Sarah Noutcha rallied the team during the bronze match, turning a deficit into a brief lead.
However, a poor performance in the seventh relay allowed Japan to regain control.
Manon Apithy-Brunet and Sara Balzer, both Olympic medalists, fought hard but ultimately fell short, leaving the team without a medal.
This outcome was particularly disappointing given their earlier success in individual events.
