Environmental activists in Concarneau, Brittany, successfully prevented a luxury cruise ship from docking using about 20 kayaks.
The Seven Seas Voyager, a 206-meter vessel capable of carrying 700 passengers, was forced to abandon its scheduled stop.
Protesters from the 'Stop Croisières BZH' collective and Extinction Rebellion unfurled a banner reading 'We are the iceberg!' The activists argue that cruise ships are environmentally unsustainable, with a 14-day cruise producing four tons of CO2 per passenger.
This incident follows similar protests in Bordeaux and a petition in Marseille to ban polluting ships, highlighting growing concerns about cruise tourism's environmental impact.
