Paris 2024 Paralympics: A Celebration of Inclusion

Published: 2024-08-26

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games are set to open with a grand ceremony in the heart of Paris, showcasing a blend of festivity and political themes.

Artistic director Thomas Jolly emphasizes the inclusion of all body types in the event, which will feature a parade of 4,400 athletes from 182 delegations.

The ceremony, titled "Paradox," will take place from the Champs-Élysées to the Place de la Concorde, highlighting the city's paradoxical lack of accessibility for people with disabilities.

The Games aim to raise awareness about public policies concerning disability, with a focus on accessibility and inclusion.

A temporary repair center in the athletes' village will support competitors by fixing equipment like wheelchairs and prosthetics, ensuring they are ready for their events.

Despite challenges, the Games strive to leave a lasting legacy of improved accessibility and inclusion in sports and beyond.
