Six departments in the Île-de-France region, including Paris, Seine-et-Marne, Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, and Val-de-Marne, have been placed under an orange alert for rain and flooding by Météo France.
This alert is effective from 9 PM on Saturday, August 17, until 4 AM on Sunday.
The weather disturbance over the Paris region is intensifying and is expected to take several hours to move eastward.
Observations have already recorded higher rainfall than anticipated, with up to 57 mm in some areas.
The heavy rains have resulted in the equivalent of three weeks to a month's worth of rainfall in the southern and eastern parts of Paris.
In response, the prefect of Seine-Saint-Denis has urged residents to limit travel and exercise caution.
The situation remains dynamic, with further updates expected as the weather system progresses.
