The recent attack on Rabbi Arié Engelberg in Orléans has reignited concerns over rising antisemitism in France.
The 16-year-old suspect, who denies initiating the assault, is set to face trial in April.
The incident has drawn widespread condemnation, with President Macron calling antisemitism a "poison" and Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau pledging increased security for Jewish places of worship.
Aurore Bergé, a government minister, criticized the political left, particularly La France Insoumise, for allegedly downplaying antisemitism.
Meanwhile, over 1,300 people marched in Orléans to show solidarity with the rabbi and denounce hate crimes.
This attack is part of a troubling trend, with 1,570 antisemitic acts recorded in France in 2024 alone.
