Heavy rainfall hit Haute-Marne, northeastern France, on Saturday evening, July 20, leading to significant flooding and causing injuries to eight people.
The region, under orange alert, experienced ten times the normal rainfall in just one hour, with nearly 50 mm falling in that time.
Emergency services conducted around 600 interventions, with 463 firefighters deployed to assist.
Five individuals were hospitalized for hypothermia, while many others faced property damage and power outages.
The local council reported severe impacts in several communities, particularly in Meures, where homes were devastated by the floods.
Authorities warn that saturated ground conditions could lead to further flooding with any additional rainfall.
