A high school student in Rezé, near Nantes, was arrested on Thursday after sending death threats to a teacher via Telegram.

The student, who used an Islamic warrior pseudonym, threatened to stab the teacher.

The incident followed a classroom episode where the student mimicked firing a gun while submitting an assignment with Arabic inscriptions.

During a search of his home, police found two knives and an Islamic State flag.

The student, previously unknown to the justice system, is now in custody.

The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office is monitoring the case, and the teacher is receiving support and protection from the educational authorities.
