A tragic incident occurred during a wedding in Saint-Pierre, Cantal, on Saturday, July 27, when the terrace of a community hall collapsed, resulting in one death and four serious injuries.

The 69-year-old woman who died suffered a cardiac arrest and could not be revived by emergency services.

The collapse happened around 6:15 PM, affecting approximately 100 guests at the event.

Emergency responders, including 57 firefighters and four helicopters, were quickly dispatched to the scene.

A total of 35 individuals were treated for less severe injuries.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the incident, which has also prompted the activation of a crisis response plan in local hospitals.

A psychological support unit has been established to assist those affected by the tragedy.
