The trial of eight adults involved in the tragic assassination of history teacher Samuel Paty has commenced in Paris.
This follows the earlier sentencing of six former students, aged 13 to 15 at the time, who were found guilty of aiding the attacker by identifying Paty in exchange for money.
The trial, which began on November 4, 2023, is being held in the same courtroom that hosted the trials for the Nice and November 13 attacks.
Among the accused are Azim Espirkhanov and Naïm Boudaoud, friends of the assailant, who are being tried for complicity in the terrorist act.
The courtroom proceedings have drawn significant public attention, with many eager to see justice served for the brutal murder that shocked France in 2020. The trial is expected to shed light on the events leading up to the attack and the roles played by those involved.
