The trial of Joël Le Scouarnec, a former French surgeon accused of sexually abusing 299 victims, has begun in Vannes.
The case centers on a USB drive and hard drives containing his detailed journals, chronicling decades of abuse.
Among the victims is Orianne, who testified about her assault at age 10 during a hospital stay in 1992. Her emotional account highlighted years of silence and disbelief.
The journals, described as a chilling confession, are key evidence in one of France's largest pedophilia cases.
The trial sheds light on the long-lasting trauma inflicted on the victims and the systemic failures that allowed the abuse to persist.
