A regionalist rally in Nantes, advocating for the reintegration of Loire-Atlantique into Brittany, turned violent when far-right militants clashed with participants.
The event, organized by the apolitical group Bretagne Réunie, was disrupted by members of the Parti National Breton (PNB), a group with neo-Nazi affiliations.
Florian Le Teuff, a municipal councilor, was assaulted while opposing the PNB's presence.
The incident, which left another participant hospitalized, has sparked widespread condemnation, including from Nantes' mayor, Johanna Rolland.
The PNB denies any violence, blaming left-wing provocateurs instead.
The rally's organizers regret not suspending the event sooner, acknowledging the challenges of managing extremist elements.
