Louis Boyard, a 23-year-old candidate from the left-wing party La France Insoumise, has won the by-election in the 3rd constituency of Val-de-Marne, France.
Boyard secured 44.93% of the votes, defeating far-right candidate Arnaud Barbotin (31.16%) and centrist Loïc Signor (23.91%) in a tense three-way race.
The election took place against a backdrop of rising social tensions and reports of racist incidents in the area.
Despite concerns about the far-right's growing influence in semi-rural parts of the constituency, Boyard managed to retain his seat in this historically left-leaning district.
The young politician's victory marks a significant moment in French politics, highlighting the ongoing struggle between progressive and conservative forces.
