A dramatic rescue unfolded at the Superdévoluy ski resort in the French Alps on December 24, when a chairlift malfunction left 240 skiers stranded.

The incident, caused by an electrical failure in the lift's motors, occurred just before 1 PM.

Rescue teams, including high mountain gendarmes and firefighters, worked tirelessly to evacuate the skiers, using ropes and a helicopter for the operation.

The evacuation was completed by 4:45 PM, with all skiers safely brought to the ground.

The municipality provided a reception area for those affected.

The Superdévoluy resort, part of the Dévoluy ski area, had only recently opened for the season on December 14.
