Bardella Cancels Speech Over Nazi Gesture

Published: 2025-02-21

Jordan Bardella, leader of France's Rassemblement National, canceled his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington after Steve Bannon, former Trump advisor, made a gesture linked to Nazi ideology.

Bannon, during his speech, raised his arm in a move reminiscent of a Nazi salute, sparking outrage.

Bardella, who was set to discuss US-France relations, called the act provocative and immediately withdrew from the event.

Bannon dismissed the criticism, calling Bardella unfit to lead and denying any Nazi connotation to his gesture.

This incident follows a similar controversial gesture by Elon Musk during Trump’s inauguration.

CPAC, a major conservative gathering, continues to draw global right-wing figures despite the controversy.
