A coalition of around fifty feminist and child protection organizations in France has united to demand a comprehensive law against sexual violence.
This coalition, which includes groups like Osez le féminisme and the Fondation des Femmes, has proposed 130 legislative measures to address the widespread issue of sexual violence.
They argue that the current judicial system is under-resourced and biased, leading to a high rate of unprosecuted cases.
The coalition highlights the need for a well-funded, victim-centered approach, estimating an annual investment of 2.6 billion euros, with 332 million specifically for combating sexual violence.
They also call for measures against online rape culture and the pornographic industry, and for mandatory annual interviews to detect incest.
Nationwide rallies are planned to support these demands and to bring attention to the ongoing issue of impunity for perpetrators.
