Published: 2025-03-27

The investigation into the disappearance of two-year-old Emile Soleil in July 2023 has taken a dramatic turn.

Emile vanished while vacationing at his grandparents' home in the Haut-Vernet, a remote hamlet in the French Alps.

This week, his maternal grandparents, Philippe and Anne Vedovini, along with two of their adult children, were placed in custody for questioning on charges of "homicide" and "concealment of a body.

" Authorities also conducted a search of the family’s main residence, seizing a vehicle and other items for examination.

The grandparents have since been released, with their lawyers expressing relief but withholding details about the investigation.

The case has seen renewed focus after the discovery of Emile’s remains earlier this year.

Investigators are now piecing together evidence, including blood traces found in a planter near the family’s vacation home.

The family’s involvement marks a significant shift in the case, which has gripped the nation for over a year.
