In France, the new Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, has announced a ban on demonstrations that could lead to "serious disturbances.
" This decision comes as the country approaches the anniversary of the October 7th massacre in Israel, which marked the beginning of the war in Gaza.
Retailleau has instructed prefects to heighten vigilance during potential gatherings and to quickly report any upcoming rallies.
He emphasized the need to adapt security measures in collaboration with intelligence services and to prohibit any demonstrations that might incite significant unrest.
Retailleau also stressed the importance of reporting any criminal slogans or calls to action to judicial authorities, stating, "We will not allow anti-Semitism to flourish and tarnish the memory of the victims.
" Several gatherings are planned across France, including in Paris and Marseille, as the nation remembers the tragic events that claimed over 1,195 lives, including 42 French citizens.
