A new heatwave is set to hit southern France, with temperatures expected to soar up to 41°C in some regions this weekend.
Météo France has placed six departments, including Aude, Hérault, Gard, Bouches-du-Rhône, and Vaucluse, under orange alert for extreme heat, joining the already affected Pyrénées-Orientales.
The heat will begin to intensify on Saturday, with the hottest days predicted for Sunday and Monday.
While the southern regions will experience extreme temperatures, the northern parts of France will also feel the heat, with a peak expected on Monday.
Authorities are urging residents to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak hours, especially as the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics approaches, where temperatures in the capital are expected to reach 35°C.
