Yannick Jadot, a prominent Green Party senator, has withdrawn from the race for Paris mayor in 2026. Jadot had hoped to unite his party without a primary, but multiple candidates, including David Belliard and Fatoumata Koné, filed for the internal election.
Jadot, who opposed the divisive primary process, stated he would not participate and would instead support the chosen candidate if their strategy aligns with his vision.
He emphasized the need for unity among left-wing parties to counter a potentially united right-wing front led by Rachida Dati.
Jadot’s withdrawal highlights ongoing challenges in rallying the fragmented left in Paris.
