The political landscape in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges is heating up as the second round of the municipal election approaches.
Louis Boyard, the young and controversial deputy from La France Insoumise (LFI), leads with 24.89% of the votes from the first round.
However, his path to victory is uncertain as he faces strong opposition from Kristell Niasme of Les Républicains (22.70%) and the outgoing mayor Philippe Gaudin, who remains in the race despite controversies.
The left-wing alliance failed to unite behind Boyard, while right-wing leaders, including Laurent Wauquiez and Jordan Bardella, have called for a united front to block his candidacy.
The election has become a battleground of ideologies, with Boyard's critics labeling his campaign as extreme and divisive.
Sunday's vote will determine whether Villeneuve embraces Boyard's vision or opts for a more traditional leadership.
