Mathilde Panot, the president of the La France Insoumise (LFI) group, announced on July 23 that they will propose a law to repeal the controversial pension reform that raised the retirement age to 64. She believes there is a majority in the National Assembly to support this repeal, citing previous opposition to the reform.
The pension reform was adopted in April 2023 using the 49.3 procedure, despite widespread protests.
Panot has called on all deputies, including those from the National Rally (RN), to take responsibility and support the repeal.
However, RN deputies have criticized the proposal, claiming it lacks credibility and warning that it cannot pass without their votes.
The proposal will not be debated until the Assembly resumes, but if the left-wing coalition gains power, they plan to prioritize this repeal.
