Luis Vassy, a Franco-Uruguayan diplomat, has been appointed as the new director of Sciences Po Paris, following a prolonged governance crisis at the prestigious institution.
Vassy, who is an alumnus of the École Nationale d'Administration (ENA) alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, was chosen by both the internal council and the board of the Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques (FNSP).
His appointment comes after the resignation of former director Mathias Vicherat amid legal issues, marking another chapter in a series of leadership challenges for the school.
Vassy aims to implement a "triple renovation" focusing on the institution's image, governance, and financial strategies, with a strong emphasis on European integration.
He also proposes new academic initiatives, including a school for climate governance and enhanced European studies, to address contemporary global challenges.
Vassy's leadership is expected to stabilize Sciences Po and restore its reputation after years of turmoil.
