French actor and director Nicolas Bedos has been sentenced to one year in prison, with six months suspended, for sexual assaults on two women in 2023. The court also mandated psychological and addiction treatment, and imposed a ban on contacting the victims.

Bedos, who was acquitted of 2018 harassment charges due to insufficient evidence, plans to appeal the decision.

His lawyer, Julia Minkowski, criticized the ruling as excessively harsh and unprecedented.

Bedos, who cited alcohol-induced memory blackouts during the trial, denied any intentional misconduct.

The incidents involved inappropriate touching in a nightclub and a bar, which Bedos claims were misinterpreted gestures.
