In a surprising turn of events, the New Popular Front (NFP), a left-wing alliance, has emerged as the leading force in France's legislative elections.
The NFP, comprising parties like the Socialists, Greens, and far-left France Unbowed, secured around 194 seats, outperforming both President Emmanuel Macron's party and the far-right National Rally.
This unexpected outcome has sent shockwaves through French politics, with the Socialist Party gaining the most within the alliance, adding 34 seats.
Macron's Renaissance party suffered significant losses, shedding 73 seats.
The NFP's victory, however, falls short of an absolute majority, potentially leading to political gridlock and raising concerns about the implementation of their ambitious economic program.
