The second round of France's 2024 legislative elections has yielded unexpected results, with no party securing an absolute majority in the National Assembly.
According to Ifop estimates for Le Figaro, the New Popular Front (NFP) leads with 180-205 seats, narrowly ahead of President Macron's Renaissance party and its allies, who secured 164-174 seats.
The far-right National Rally (RN) made significant gains, obtaining 130-145 seats, while The Republicans and various right-wing parties won 60-63 seats.
Notably, voter turnout surged to 67.5%, a 21.3% increase from 2022, with a record 3.2 million proxy votes registered.
This new political landscape signals potential challenges for governance and policy-making in France.
