Yaël Braun-Pivet has been re-elected as President of the French National Assembly, narrowly defeating her rivals in a tense vote.
The deputy from Yvelines secured 220 votes in the third round of voting, edging out André Chassaigne of the NFP (207 votes) and Sébastien Chenu of the RN (141 votes).
Braun-Pivet's victory comes amidst a fragmented and unpredictable political landscape following recent legislative elections.
In her acceptance speech, she emphasized the need for dialogue and progress, pledging to work alongside all members of the assembly.
The election highlighted the complex dynamics of the new legislature, with deputies seated alphabetically for the vote, creating unusual political pairings.
