France is currently experiencing a significant heatwave, with temperatures soaring above 40°C in some regions, particularly in the South-West.
This intense heatwave, which coincided with the conclusion of the Paris Olympics, has affected three-quarters of the country, including the Paris region where temperatures felt close to 40°C due to humidity.
Although the heatwave is expected to subside by Tuesday, moving eastward due to thunderstorms, it has already set monthly temperature records in places like Biscarosse and Belin-Béliet.
The heatwave has also heightened the risk of wildfires, especially in the South-West, where several fires have been reported.
This marks the 49th heatwave in France since 1947, a frequency that has increased due to climate change, which has warmed the country by 1.7°C since 1900. As the summer continues, more heatwaves are anticipated, highlighting the growing impact of climate change on weather patterns in France.
