François Ruffin, a left-wing French MP, has officially announced his candidacy for the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking to a crowd of 1,000 supporters in Montreuil, Ruffin launched his campaign under the slogan "Notre France.
" He called for unity and determination, urging his audience to "transform resignation into hope.
" The event, held the day after Marine Le Pen's legal judgment, was strategically timed to energize the left.
Ruffin, who has distanced himself from his former mentor Jean-Luc Mélenchon, plans a series of meetings across France to build momentum.
Despite skepticism about his resolve, Ruffin is determined to "show the light" and revive the left's political fortunes.
