François Ruffin, the outspoken left-wing deputy, has been re-elected in France's 1st constituency of Somme, defeating far-right candidate Nathalie Ribeiro-Billet.
Despite trailing in the first round, Ruffin secured 52.96% of the vote in the runoff.
This marks his third consecutive victory in the region, defying the rising tide of far-right support.
Ruffin, who recently distanced himself from Jean-Luc Mélenchon's La France Insoumise party, celebrated the win as a triumph over political fatalism.
However, he cautioned against complacency, noting the strong performance of far-right candidates across Picardy.
Ruffin emphasized the need to reconnect with working-class voters and transform anger into hope.
