French Seniors Living Healthier Longer

Published: 2024-12-31

In 2023, French seniors aged 65 can expect to live longer and healthier lives, according to a new study by the DREES.

Men at this age can anticipate 10.5 years without health limitations, while women can enjoy 12 years.

This marks a steady improvement since 2008, with years lived in good health increasing faster than overall life expectancy.

Currently, over half of the remaining years after 65 are spent without significant health issues.

France ranks among the top EU countries for healthy life expectancy, with women living 2.5 years and men 1.4 years longer in good health than the EU average.

Experts attribute this progress to advancements in medicine, prevention, and living conditions.
