Mohamed Amra, a notorious drug trafficker who escaped custody in a violent jailbreak last May, has been arrested in Romania.
The dramatic escape at a French toll station left two prison guards dead and three injured.
Amra, nicknamed "The Fly," had been on the run for nine months before being apprehended near a shopping center by Romanian police.
French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau praised the international cooperation that led to the arrest, calling it a "decisive success.
" President Emmanuel Macron also commended the efforts of law enforcement and expressed solidarity with the victims' families.
Amra, who was already facing charges for kidnapping and murder, will now face further judicial proceedings.
This marks a significant victory for justice after months of relentless pursuit.
