Two Algerian influencers, "Zazou Youssef" and "Doualemn," faced French courts this week for inciting violence through TikTok videos.
Youcef Aziria, known as "Zazou Youssef," was sentenced to 18 months in prison for promoting terrorism, with a 10-year ban from France.
Meanwhile, Boualem Namam, or "Doualemn," awaits a verdict in Montpellier for urging violence against an individual.
Both cases have sparked political tensions between France and Algeria, already strained over diplomatic issues.
The influencers, who had significant online followings, expressed regret during their trials, claiming their words were misunderstood.
Their actions have raised concerns about the role of social media in spreading hate and incitement.
