Météo-France has issued an orange alert for severe thunderstorms in 12 northeastern departments of France on Saturday, July 20th.
The affected areas include Allier, Ardennes, Aube, Cher, Côte-d'Or, Loire, Marne, Haute-Marne, Nièvre, Puy-de-Dôme, Saône-et-Loire, and Yonne.
Forecasters warn of a significant risk of violent phenomena, including strong storms accompanied by hail, intense rainfall, significant electrical activity, and powerful wind gusts.
These storms are expected to sweep across the alert zone from south to north during the afternoon and evening, following a calm morning.
While there is uncertainty about the exact location, timing, and intensity of the storms, Météo-France advises particular attention due to the potential for severe weather.
The situation is expected to improve overnight from Saturday to Sunday.
