An investigation has been launched in Rennes following violent actions by security staff linked to the 1988 Live Club, led by Yovan Delourme, a former far-right political candidate.
The incident occurred during an unauthorized "free party" on March 8-9, where security personnel were caught on video using tear gas and physically assaulting attendees.
Critics, including local politicians and student unions, have condemned the actions as illegal and likened them to a "fascist militia.
" Delourme, who has a controversial history of using force to assert control over the area, has been accused of acting as a self-styled vigilante.
The case has drawn widespread attention, with calls for accountability and justice.
