The investigation into rape allegations against French author Frédéric Beigbeder has been closed due to a lack of evidence.
The prosecutor in Pau announced on July 26, 2023, that the case, which stemmed from a complaint filed on July 23, could not be substantiated.
The complainant alleged that a consensual sexual encounter turned non-consensual during the night of July 18-19 in a hotel room.
Despite questioning all relevant witnesses, authorities found insufficient evidence to support the claims.
Beigbeder, known for his controversial works and past legal issues, has denied the allegations.
He has recently stated that he has changed his lifestyle and is living with his family in Guéthary, France.
