A fire erupted on the spire of Rouen Cathedral in France on Thursday, July 11th.
The blaze, reported around noon, engulfed the metal spire currently undergoing renovation.
Rouen's mayor, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, stated that all public resources were mobilized to combat the fire.
Sixty-three firefighters with 33 vehicles rushed to the scene.
The cathedral was evacuated, and a security perimeter was established.
Initial reports suggest the fire may have been caused by an accident during the restoration work.
The 151-meter-high spire, one of Europe's tallest, has been undergoing repairs due to long-term deterioration of its cast iron structure.
