Young migrants who had been living in tents along the Seine in Paris were evacuated by police on April 1. This followed their earlier expulsion from the Gaîté Lyrique theater, where they had stayed for three months demanding proper housing.
Authorities cited safety and public health risks as reasons for the eviction, with over 250 people and 140 tents involved.
A court rejected appeals to halt the operation, stating the camp posed dangers to both residents and passersby.
While some migrants accepted temporary shelter, many left the area amid growing tensions with police.
Advocacy groups criticized the authorities for creating fear and pressure among the migrants, who continue to seek long-term housing solutions.
