Severe Weather Hits Southeast France

Published: 2024-10-17

The southeast of France, particularly the Alpes-Maritimes, is experiencing severe weather conditions with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

On Wednesday, intense rainfalls led to urban flooding, especially in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, where 102 millimeters of rain fell in a few hours.

The region remains under an orange alert for rain and flooding, with schools and public spaces closed as a precaution.

Authorities have conducted numerous rescue operations, including evacuations from flooded areas.

The weather is expected to worsen, with more rain predicted for Thursday, prompting further closures and safety measures.

Residents are advised to remain cautious as the risk of river overflow remains high.
