Storm Darragh Halts Normandy Trains

France is bracing for the impact of Storm Darragh, which has prompted Météo-France to issue an orange alert for eleven departments due to the risk of violent winds.

The affected areas include Pas-de-Calais, Somme, Seine-Maritime, Calvados, Manche, Ille-et-Vilaine, Côtes-d’Armor, Finistère, Morbihan, Aude, and Pyrénées-Orientales.

Winds are expected to reach up to 130 km/h, particularly along the exposed coastlines.

In response, the SNCF has suspended all train services in Normandy for the weekend, with plans to resume operations on Monday, depending on the storm's impact.

Travelers are advised to postpone their journeys, with options available for ticket exchanges or refunds.

The storm is part of a broader weather pattern affecting Europe, moving from England to Belgium, and is expected to bring heavy rain and potentially stormy conditions along the French coast.
